After use, hand wash with lukewarm water and soap and dry immediately with a cloth. Allow to air-dry on a drying rack before placing on a countertop or other surfaces. If the wood begins to look dull or feel rough to the touch, recondition it with oil. Hard Oil, a completely natural, solvent-free linseed oil made by the German producer Kreidezeit is recommended and available. Keep away from direct sunlight. Do not put in the dishwasher, microwave, or oven. Never leave in water or filled with water.

If using at the table, some foods like strawberries and beetroot can ocasionally stain light-colored wood. These stains usually fade over time, but to prevent such events from happening, avoid putting strong colored foods in your bowl. If you prefer a shiny appearance that is as close as possible to its original condition, oil regularly and avoid scratching by using wooden cutlery. If a richly patinated surface that reflects history is desired, oil once in a while and use your bowl with normal, common-sense care.
