“It takes 10 years just to get to the starting point. Manufacturing is difficult, and if you want to make great furniture, you will suffer. We suffer because we try to master it.”

About
Majcan&Majcan is a woodworking studio that specializes in finely detailed solid wood furniture and various other items for daily use. The studio, established in 2019, is run by brothers Tomislav and Matej, who have shared a fascination with trees and wood from a very young age.
The firm’s main focus are material study and precise traditional craftsmanship. The work is well-done and it doesn’t need to be covered up with moldings and trim. The endpieces are carefully put together in a particular way using only the finest materials. To achieve something that looks fairly effortless, a lot of hidden technique is used.
Philosophy
The applied philosophy is rooted in the simple notion that beautiful and high-quality furniture can be made from the most precious local hardwoods in complete harmony with surrounding forests, cultures and economies. Designing and making organic objects that can be enjoyed, admired, moved around and used in everyday life, as well as ones that continue to age gracefully and look beautiful through generations of use, should represent one of the most sustainable forms of occupation.
Style
At Majcan&Majcan, there is no interest in trends of any kind – the priority is to achieve beauty and elegance of classic, traditional form. The preferred design is, in a sense, a “non-design”. Nature does most of the work, the final touch is simply to complete the process with suitable joinery and proportions.
